SYNOPSIS
Paraguay, 1970s.
Carmen, from a family linked to the dictatorship, discovers that a little girl has been abused and killed in the neighboring house of a colonel.
The horror of a reality – hitherto hidden – threatens his daily life. Carmen breaks the silence imposed on her and manages to denounce the crime.
DIRECTOR’S BIO
Pablo Lamar was born in Asunción (Paraguay) in 1984. He studied film at the Universidad del Cine in Buenos Aires (Argentina).
He has written and directed the short films Ahendu Nde Sapukai (2008) and Noche Adentro (2009), both of which premiered at the Semaine de la Critique of the Cannes Film Festival, and received awards worldwide.
La última tierra, his first feature film, premiered at IFFR 2016, where it received the Hivos Tiger Jury Award for artistic achievement. It also received the Best Film award the Sao Paulo Latin-American Film Festival 2016 and the Prix Découverte in the Cinélatino Rencontres de Toulouse 2016. The Habana Film Festival also awarded the Artistic contribution to La última tierra.
He also works as a sound designer for film, having collaborated with directors like Kleber Mendonça Filho, Joao Salaviza and Renee Nader, Pedro Pinho, among others. In this role, he received several awards, including the Ensemble award given to Buriti flower in Cannes 2023.
In theater, he has directed the pieces Cine Splendid (2017), Conto Anonimo (2018) and Deriva (2023), all of them in collaboration with Sara Pinheiro, scriptwriter of Remanso.
